Inspiration for World Peace

One great thought
can change the dreams of the world.

One great action,
taken all the way to the sea,
can change the history of the world.

Ben Okri

 Native American Prayer for Peace

Oh Great Spirit of our Ancestors, I raise my pipe to you.

To your messengers the four winds, and to Mother Earth who provides for your children.

Give us the wisdom to teach our children to love, to respect,

and to be kind to each other so that they may grow with peace of mind.

Let us learn to share all good things that you provide for us on this Earth

“The holiest of all spots on earth is where an ancient hatred has become a present love”

A Course in Miracles

We are the ones who can create the change.

We do not stand alone.

We have an army of others to support us

And a bedrock of masters gone before us to inspire and assist us.

From “Unarmed Heroes” compiled and edited by Peace Direct

Muslim Saying

Kill a man -
kill all of humanity.

We are higher than Angels
and lower than dogs.

Jainist Prayer for Peace

Peace and Universal Love is the essence of the Gospel preached by all Enlightened Ones.

The Lord has preached that equanimity is the Dharma

Forgive do I creatures all, and let all creatures forgive me.

Unto all have I amity, and unto none enmity.

Know that violence is the root cause of all miseries in the world.

Violence, in fact, is the knot of bondage.

"Do not injure any living being."

This is the eternal, perennial, and unalterable way of spiritual life.

A weapon, howsoever powerful it may be, can always be superseded by a superior one;

but no weapon can, however, be superior to non-violence and love.

Muslim PRAYER FOR UNITY
Movement For Reforming Society,
Lahore / Pakistan

IN THE NAME OF GOD, THE COMPASSIONATE, THE MERCIFUL, look with compassion on the whole human family; take away the controversial teachings of arrogance, divisions and hatreds which have badly infected our hearts; break down the walls that separate us; reunite us in bonds of love; and work through our struggle and confusion to accomplish Your purposes on earth; that, in Your good time, all nations and races may jointly serve You in justice, peace and harmony.  (Amen)

Hindu prayer for peace
Oh God, lead us from the unreal to the Real.

Oh God, lead us from darkness to light.

Oh God, lead us from death to immortality.

Shanti, Shanti, Shanti unto all.

Oh Lord God almighty, may there be peace in celestial regions.

May there be peace on Earth.

May the waters be appeasing.

May herbs be wholesome,

and may trees, plants bring peace to all.

May all beneficent beings bring peace to us.

May thy Vedic Law propagate peace all through the world.

May all things be a source of peace to us.

And may thy peace itself, bestow peace on all

and may that peace come to me also.

"Our roots are deep in the lands where we live. We have a great love for our country, for our birthplace is here. The soil is rich from the bones of thousands of our generations. Each of us was created in these lands and it is our duty to take great care of them, because from these lands will spring the future generations of our peoples. We walk about with great respect, for the Earth is a very Sacred Place." --Sioux, Navaho and Iroquois Declaration, 1978

First They Came for the Jews
and I did not speak out
because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for the Communists
and I did not speak out
because I was not a Communist.
Then they came for the trade unionists
and I did not speak out
because I was not a trade unionist.
Then they came for me
and there was no one left
to speak out for me.

Pastor Martin Niemöller

Every part of the earth is sacred to my people. Every shining pine needle, every sandy shore, every mist in the dark woods, every clearing and humming insect is holy in the memory and experience of my people. A Duwamish Chief (Burger)

 Beit
Everything is a house for God. Let no house be chosen over another house. Build me a Temple and I will dwell in them. We are two and cannot war against each other. Here we are aligned, enter us all and at once, Divine One, that we may be fertile with You. Now each moment is Beresheet, is In the Beginning as we return again and again to the original creation. We live in the house of God and the house of God is in us. That is the Blessing. The grass, every blade of it, the song bird, and the howl, these are great Temples . The one we think is an enemy is a Temple . Beit invokes the recognition that all beings are Temples .

Jewish Prayer for Peace
Come, let us go up to the mountain of the Lord,

that we may walk the paths of the Most High.

And we shall beat our swords into plough shares,

and our spears into pruning hooks.

Nation shall not lift up sword against nation -

neither shall they learn war any more.

And none shall be afraid,

for the mouth of the Lord of Hosts has spoken.

Muslim Prayer for Peace

In the name of Allah, the beneficent, the merciful.
Praise be to the Lord of the Universe who has created us and made us into tribes and nations
That we may know each other, not that we may despise each other.
If the enemy incline towards peace, do thou also incline towards peace,
and trust God, for the Lord is the one that heareth and knoweth all things.
And the servants of God,
Most gracious are those who walk on the Earth in humility,
and when we address them, we say "PEACE."

Christian Prayer for Peace
Blessed are the PEACEMAKERS,
for they shall be known as
the Children of God.
But I say to you that hear,
love your enemies,
do good to those who hate you,
bless those who curse you,
pray for those who abuse you.
To those who strike you on the cheek,
offer the other also,
and from those who take away your cloak,
do not withhold your coat as well.
Give to everyone who begs from you,
and of those who take away your goods,
do not ask them again.
And as you wish that others would do to you,
so do to them.

Buddhist prayer for peace:

May all beings everywhere plagued
with sufferings of body and mind
quickly be freed from their illnesses.
May those frightened cease to be afraid,
And may those bound be free.
May the powerless find power
And may people think of befriending one another.
May those who find themselves in trackless,
Fearful wilderness -
The children, the aged, the unprotected -
Be guarded by beneficial celestials,
And may they swiftly attain Buddhahood.

There  is only one God and he is God to all;
Therefore it is important that everyone is seen as equal before God.
I've always said we should help a Hindu become a better Hindu, a Muslim become a better Muslim, a Buddhist become a better Buddhist and a Christian become a better Christian.

"An eye for an eye leaves the
whole world blind"
Mahatma Gandhi

Christian Prayer of St. Frances
Lord, make me an instrument of your peace.
Where there is hatred, let me sow love
Where there is injury, pardon
Where there is doubt, faith
Where there is despair, hope
Where there is darkness, light
Where there is sadness, joy.

Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek
To be consoled as to console,
To be understood, as to understand,
To be loved, as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive,
In pardoning that we are pardoned,
and in dying that we are born to eternal life.
